Chicago Trip

In February my supervisor offered me the opportunity to go to Chicago with him for a week. The intent was to interface with Slalom, the company Nautilus had contracted to create the Max Intelligence Platform (MIP). As a former Army officer I understood the value of a proper right-seat/left-seat ride. Since I would be taking over MIP development next, I jumped at the learning opportunity. For the non-soldiers among us, a left-seat/right-seat is the practice of having the incoming unit for a rotation sitting on the left (the passengers seat) for the first week while the veteran drives.

AAR pt 11 (Tools)

If you have not had a chance to read the first entry in the series for context, you can do so hereIt’s been a almost exactly a year since I did my last Tools AAR entry, so I figured it was about time that I had a new entry on my lessons learned. This post focuses almost exclusively on security tools. Happy Halloween!

We had a pretty good Halloween at the Taylor household this Wednesday. This was our first Halloween in the neighborhood, since we moved just this summer, so we weren’t sure how common trick-or-treaters would be. I’d say our new cul-de-sac is somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Not the swarms of locusts that I’ve seen in some neighborhoods, but not entirely dead either. And to parody that last paragraph, I give you this Andy Rooney montage.
